Lawrence is a much-loved regular on the Australian comedy scene. In 2007, he made it to the semi final of the prestigious NBC’s Last Comic Standing in Los Angeles. He has also won the Best Comedy award at Melbourne Fringe.

The episode was notable for Mooney's open shaming of Tommy and his attempts to seek out a job writing on Dirty Laundry Live. In early 2014, Mooney appeared with Luke McGregor for episode 171; in which he defended his performance as host of the ABC's new year's eve coverage. He was also a guest for the first week of the podcast's live shows as a part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival; alongside Kyle Kinane and Charlie Pickering.
